Creative Applications of Trauma-Informed Practice

This engaging 7-week course explores how creative arts modalities—including visual art, movement, music, play, and storytelling—support trauma recovery through expression, regulation, and integration. Grounded in trauma theory and neuroscience, the course combines interactive Zoom sessions, creative journaling, and an applied final project. Participants will gain practical, trauma-informed tools rooted in ethical practice, cultural responsiveness, and somatic-relational understanding.

Natural Learning Relationships Autobiographies

Self-discovery and self-knowledge, the core values of this course, bring forth embodiment of optimal well-being in ourselves, our loved ones, and empower us in all community, educational, and professional relationships. As we explore each field of knowing, surprising insights about self, and the depth and scope of NLR become apparent

African Wisdom

Led by Tahirah Abubakr (AKA Iya) we deeply explore the core concepts of African Wisdom and how they shaped human civilization. African spirituality spans from 10,000 years ago in the Upper Nile to the present day, and has influenced spiritual paths throughout the world. The interconnection of earth realms and spirit realms and the fundamental and meaning and values of relationships comes alive. This course explores the essence of this wisdom, many of its ceremonies including rites of passage, and its relevance to the challenges in our times.

Spiritual Development Across the Lifespan

This 7-week experiential seminar explores the unfolding of spiritual development from childhood through adulthood. Drawing on transpersonal psychology, developmental theory, and indigenous wisdom, participants will engage in deep dialogue, reflective practice, and transformative learning. Together, we’ll explore how different ways of knowing—intuition, empathy, presence, and direct experience—shape our sense of self, purpose, and connection across the lifespan.

Inner Knowing & Self-Knowledge

This course invites you into a direct inquiry: How do your inner dynamics work? What happens when you begin to see them clearly, with appreciation rather than judgment? As this awareness deepens, many of the personal mysteries that shape our lives begin to resolve. New perspectives open on yourself, others, and the world. Inner Knowing and Self-knowledge also awakens our relationship to the sacred. It gives access to insights once considered esoteric, expanding our understanding of life’s deeper order.

Remedies and Healing Out of Balance Situations

Once we have embodied well-being, we can apply to our insights and empathy to bring dysfunction back into balance. Every family, every classroom, every mental health challenge is unique, yet by focusing in well-being, NLR provides the approach and suggestions that any practitioner can bring forth wholeness and healing with skillful means

Adult Development: Lifespan Growth, Meaning-Making, and Transformation

This four-week intensive program invites adult learners into a compelling study of development across the lifespan. Blending foundational theory with personal inquiry, Adult Development: Lifespan Growth, Meaning-Making, and Transformation examines how we evolve, make meaning, and cultivate wisdom throughout adulthood.

Professional Development: Becoming an NLR Educator or Consultant

With NLR we become community advocates for well-being. Emphasizing experiential exercises, we explore how to connect with diverse constituencies, recognize their needs, develop mutually beneficial relationships among all participants, and judiciously employ NLR at the right time and in the right way.

NLR Practicum

In this 12-week course learners comprehensively review the entire scope of NLR. Strengths and weaknesses are evaluated, with attention devoted to resolving confusions and misunderstandings. All aspects of presentation are carefully considered, including ways to approach various situations, questions commonly asked, challenges commonly faced, and ways to evaluate responses. Each learner will have the opportunity to explore and practice presentation to the person or group they expect to engage. The difference between consultation, education, parent groups, and conference presentations will be explored.

In short, graduates of the Practicum will be ready to use NLR in professional practice. They will have the NLR Practitioner Certificate and permissions to do so.
