Dan Spring, MA, PhD Candidate
Dan Spring has twenty years of experience working with Autistic and Neurodiverse children. Dan has a Master's degree from Antioch University, where he focused his research on Autism and Neurodiversity. His thesis was titled “The Role of Belonging in the Neurodiverse Construction of Identity” and explored how Autistic and Neurodiverse people can develop healthy identities.
Recently, Dan became a Registered Clinical Counselor, and he is continuing his research into optimal developmental contexts for Autistic and Neurodiverse people through a PhD at Royal Roads University.

Whole Human Development Zone
In this course, participants will benefit from learning about the unique nourishments that promote the optimal development of their Autistic teens. The Natural Learning Relationship approach will be explained, including a look at the crucial four stages of development and why participants need to know about them in order to understand their child's developmental needs. In addition, awareness will be brought to the challenges of talking with Autistic teens, and how participants can best communicate in ways that will be heard.
Common problems faced by parents and caregivers of Autistic teens will be addressed throughout the course. These include: how Autistic teens differ from non-Autistic teens and why it matters; the number one most important thing your Autistic teen wants you to know but can't tell you; and why parenting an Autistic teen can be the most rewarding experience of your life, even when fraught with difficulties.
